About Gordon Food Service

Operational Excellence

Technology and the Foodservice Industry

In order to remain a lead player in the foodservice industry, we at Gordon Food Service are constantly looking for ways to improve our service.  With an inventory of over 14,000 brand name and private brand products, we need to have state-of-the-art equipment in order to stay a cut above the rest.

It all starts with our inventory analysts, who estimate the quantity of products needed, with assistance from a computer program called AWR by E-3 (Advanced Warehouse Replenishment). This software revises the inventory level for each product, notifies us when it’s time to re-order and optimizes stock rotation using the FIFO method (First In First Out).

From reception in our warehouses, to delivery to your kitchen, the WMS (Warehouse Management System) maximizes rotation, thus freshness, for each product.
Upon reception, the software makes sure the products are true to pre-established quality and freshness criteria, it then assigns them the best possible spot in the warehouse. The customer’s orders are then filled according to a specific sequence in order to respect each product’s specific requirements. All our trucks are equipped with multi-temperature refrigeration units, thus guaranteeing that each item is stored at the proper temperature at all times.
